Is it good and safe for a patient to fly after hair transplantation surgery?

Many people are still confused on this matter and there are so many mixed reviews came by many researcher or doctors when it comes to flying after hair transplant surgery.

Several hair transplant specialists suggest flying the day after surgery because they consider it safe and they suggests that patients should visit the hair transplant clinic the day after the surgical method for a post-operative wash and checkup, and then fly where ever he/she wants. These hair transplantation doctors think that the forehead and facial swelling problems are sometimes associated with hair transplantation and they confirm arises the second or third day after the surgical procedure.

And if a patient wants to fly so it’s better he/she should fly before this inflammation phase begins because it is usually easier for the patients.

However, the other doctors are not on this theory and they think that the patients should rest at home for a few days and in this time the wounds on scalp will heal and recover completely. This resting phase helps ensure patients don’t accidentally disturb the newly implanted follicular units and affect the overall surgical method yield.

If you are a young hair loss sufferer what will you do to retain your hair back? Is hair transplant surgery suitable for a young teenage patient?

If you are suffering from severe and harsh hair loss problem, then it’s better to consult with any good hair transplant surgeon for further discussion about the care management system for a hair loss problem. It’s significant that a qualified hair restoration surgeon approaches a teenage male a lot different than a grown-up man. There are two main root causes for being traditional and going slow, which comprises for most of us. The surgeon is being a little unwilling to do hair transplant surgery on men under 24.

Reason #1: hair loss occurs mostly in man due to male pattern baldness issue and MPB is a highly progressive issue throughout a male’s life. That’s why you can never judge a teenager in his 20’s and predict how far his hair loss problem will extend in future. Because, as the age passing by, hair loss problem will increase due to so many obvious reasons like depression, isolated lifestyle and anxiety issues. These problems can turn a young man into a freak one, so the decision to hair restoration a teenager should be taken very critically.

Reason #2: Many teenagers have not really expressively accepted the reality that they are going to be full bald in the future. So when the proper signs of baldness occur, a surgeon will do hair transplant surgery better according to the patient’s condition. If anyone is showing so much willingness to have a surgery for baldness, then he must know that he must take a second session in future.

Is a hair transplant procedure is painful and what is tumescent anesthesia?

Many surgeons perform hair transplant procedures by using long-acting and local anesthesia so, after the anesthesia; the patient doesn’t experience any pain or discomfort on the scalp.

The local common general anesthesia (a mixture of Lidocaine and Marcaine) lasts about 4-5 hours. But for long hair transplant sessions, most of the surgeons use tumescent anesthesia before the first wears off. Tumescent methods were first popularized in liposuction operation where huge quantities of fluid containing adrenaline were injected into the person’s fat layer to reduce bleeding before the fat was removed out of the body. Due to tumescent, bleeding was minimized because the epinephrine (adrenaline) contracted blood vessels and the fluid condensed the blood flow in the smallest blood vessels called capillaries. This method permitted in small liposuction processes to be performed safely.

Surgical hair transplantation processes, low concentrations of anesthetic fluid and tumescent are inserted into the fat layer in the back of the patient’s scalp. In this method, besides decreasing the bleeding, the anesthesia solution makes the skin stiffer so that the incisions can easily made without cutting hair follicles. It also assists the surgeon to avoid the damage of deeper nerves and blood vessels in the scalp. This mixture of anesthesia medication is a very fast acting tranquilizer, which is very relaxing for the patient. Some patients even sleep off at the beginning of the surgery, then, the patient could not feel any pain.

If the patient’s hair sheds after hair transplantation, will it again grow back?

If you had underwent to a hair transplantation and after surgery your hair starts shed then, don’t worried because shedding approximately 50-150 hairs a day is absolutely normal and fine. This stage of shedding hair represents the natural telogen cycle and it is seen in healthy scalps, which is secure with any infection or germs. It means the scalp is not affected by androgenic alopecia (a disease caused the male pattern hair loss). But you have to be aware of this situation and keep noticing the shedding amount of hair during styling and bathing. Keep this thing in mind that it is a regular hair follicle physiology and these lost hairs should grow back within 3-4 months according to your natural hair growth phase.

On the other hand, the person, who is suffering from hair loss, will observe an increased amount of shedding, and noticing more than 150 hairs on pillows, hands, and towels daily may signify that he needs to see a trusted hair restoration doctor.  And sadly, because of the alopecia development, these hairs may permanently drop and fall out and never grow back.

However, it is essential that a surgeon must use only those hair follicles for transplant that come from the safe donor area and should be protected to the hormones (dihydrotestosterone – DHT) because this hormone is responsible for androgenic alopecia. If a person scalp will immune from androgenic alopecia, these follicles will shed and cycle at normal rates and lost hair should always grow back.

How short the patient’s shave his hair after the hair strip transplantation procedure?

When we talk about the strip transplantation procedure, it is also famous as a follicular unit transplant, so it is different from other transplantation procedures. In this method, the doctor uses a sharp blade to cut out a strip of the scalp tissue from the donor side of the head and then split them into thin individual follicular units by using a microscope. When the doctor completed this step, he carefully put the hair grafts on the recipient’s scalp and sews the area, but it is possible to appear scars on the head after surgery. This procedure has a few of the drawbacks and one of its negative aspects is that it leaves the long linear scar in the donor area of the patient’s head. That’s why the patient has to keep a short hairstyle, as to cover the scar. When this linear scar will disappear, most probably in one month, then you can shave your hair.

But on the other hand, it will vary and depends on a number of factors involves in strip transplantation. For example, a patient with a less scars, superior density in the donor area, coarser, curlier hair, and color of the hair is similar to the scar tissue will be capable to shave his hair.

But if you are concerned about visible signs of scarring in the donor region or patients who desire to shave his hair may go for the FUE hair transplantation. Even if there is still scarring with this method, but the scars are less visible under shortly shaved hair.
